AZ VOSH took part in an optometry clinic in Hermosillo, joined by doctors and optometry students from the Mexican optometry schools in Aguascalientes, Culiacan, Durango Santander, and Sonora, plus some 80 other volunteers including interpreters, government health representatives, and members of the Pitic Rotary Club.
This mission emphasized optometry student training, brought better instrumentation than ever before, and enabled on-site referrals: 142 patients were referred for conditions needing additional care. The trip was hosted by Sedesson, and the new VOSH representative for Sonora, Dr. Manuel Rosas, collaborated on site.
